I gave this a whirl at Christmas just on a whim and it turned out pretty tasty.
I do find it hard to make really nice gluten free pastry, even when I was “just” gluten free it just never seems to be quite the same, mine often turns out like an earthquake on dry land or something like that haha but it still tastes pretty good especially accompanied by Good & Well dairy/egg/soy/wheat/gluten free custard or whipped coconut cream.
Give it a try. Let me know what you think x
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon or cinnamon sugar **check label**
1 tub of nuttelex
1 packet Orgran pastry mix
Step 1. Peel and core apples. Cut each into 8 pieces. Toss with 45grams of nuttelex and fry on low-medium until they are cooked (you can pierce with a fork), takes about 15 minutes.
Step 2. Make pastry using the instructions on the Orgran box. I made it in my kitchen aid with nuttelex – I think it was only nuttelex that was required to add in, possibly water as well ?! Just fully refer to the packet for this step and sub the butter for nuttelex 🙂
Step 3.Line a pie dish with a round circle of baking paper. Roll dough out onto baking paper to make base of pie and fold up the sides. Add cooked apples, roll out another layer of dough for the top of the pie. Pop into the oven and cook for 45 minutes at 180 degrees.
