Don’t apologise for your food allergies

I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick of apologising or feeling like a pain because of my/my family’s food allergies, we didn’t ask for any of it and can’t do anything about it.

If other people find it an inconvenience to have to check things for me/us or alter their plans for us, I think they should stop and think for a minute how it is for us…

I slip up and eat an allergen that Beckett cannot have, his stomach lining sheds/bleeds, he’s in pain, it effects his sleep and well being, he doesn’t want to eat, it makes him pale, effects his future nutrient absorption, makes him profusely vomit.

For me it gives me stomach pains , like someone is in my stomach slicing it open and I feel dreadful for at least a week recovering, in addition I now have the risk of anaphylactic shock which at minimum means I get to be stabbed in the leg with my epi pen and get a dead leg along with a trip to the hospital.

So be kind, be inclusive, do what you can to help. It’s not that hard to find something to include allergy friends or at minimum just to suck it up and go with the flow to accommodate.
